Ribbon Spoon Rest

Ribbon Spoon Rest 1
Ribbon Spoon Rest 2
1/2
The Ribbon Spoon Rest drape form shapes a rolled slab of clay into a spoon rest with softly squared, ribbon-like folds. Dust the slab and the form generously with cornflour so the clay will not stick, then drape the slab over the form and gently work it down to take the shape. Trim away the excess, smooth the edges, then lift the form away to release your spoon rest. Ideal for resting spoons, ladles, and spatulas while you cook. Part of the Spoon Rests collection.

Drape Forming
Drape FormingLay a soft slab over the form and let gravity do the work. Lift it away once leather hard for an even, repeatable shape.
Slump Forming
Slump FormingPress a slab into the form to shape bowls, dishes, and trays with a clean rim and a consistent depth every time.

How to use

Screw In the HandleIf your form came with a handle, screw it into the threaded hole underneath before you start. It lets you lift and turn the form without pressing on your clay.
Use a Release LayerDrape a thin cloth or a sheet of newsprint between the slab and the form. Clay releases cleanly and you avoid drag marks on the surface.
Wait for Leather HardLeave the piece on the form until it is leather hard. Lifting too early distorts the shape; leaving it too long makes the clay shrink onto the form.
Work at a Comfortable HeightIf you added the stand, screw it into the same hole as the handle. It raises the form to working height so you are not hunched over the table.
Clean and Store DryWash off clay with water and a soft brush, then dry fully before storing. Keep forms out of direct sun and away from heat, which can soften plant-based plastic over time.
